- The Brothers Andi & Hannes Teichmann are electronic musicians, DJs and cultural activists, rooted in Berlin‘s techno underground and DIY-culture since the late nineties. The brothers have collaborated with numerous artists across a variety of genres.Gebrüder Teichmann, the two brothers Andi and Hannes Teichmann, are active musicians, Djs and cultural activists. They started getting into music in 1989 at the age of 9 and 12 years with their punk band Totalschaden before they discovered electronic music and became an active part of the Berlin underground scene since the late 90s. Together and solo they have released on various labels, such as Kompakt, Ladomat, Killekill, Staubgold, Soundway, Outhere or Disko B and their own labels Festplatten, Teichtracks and NOLAND. Their work is not limited by style or genre borders. Many collaborations with artists from a wide range of genres, from hip hop to classical music, from traditional to experimental music etc. allowed them to constantly widen their possibilities of live performance and improvisation in electronic music as well as creating bridges between musicians from different backgrounds. In the field of contemporary music they´ve worked with ensembles as Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Decoder, Omnibus Ensemble and composers as Moritz Eggert or Leopold Hurt. As networkers the brothers developed intercultural projects in cooperation with Goethe Institutes around the world, such as BLNRB, Ten Cities, Karachi Files, Soundcamp Sri Lanka or Mondmaschine. They curated nights for several Berlin Festivals like Worldtronic Festival (Haus der Kulturen der Welt), Africa Music Convention, Afghanische Kulturwochen (Auswärtiges Amt), or the 3 days Festival "From Inside To Way Out / Perspectives from Contemporary Pakistan" at HAU, Hebbel am Ufer. Deutsch: Die Gebrüder Andi und Hannes Teichmann sind als Musiker, DJs, Labelmacher und Kulturakitivisten ein fester Teil des Berliner Techno Undergrounds seit den späten 90er Jahren. In dieser Zeitspanne haben sie auch den Umbruch Berlins von einer subkulturellen Oase, zu einer globalen Marke erlebt. Doch hat sie der kommerzielle Aspekt der Clubkultur nie interessiert: Geprägt hat die Söhne eines Multiinstrumentalisten die DIY Kultur der frühen Szene mit ihrer steten Suche nach Diversität und der spielerischen Lust an Improvisation und Transformation. Statt es sich im Hype um Berlin und Techno gemütlich zu machen haben die beiden DJs und Live Elektronik Musiker immer die Schnittstellen zu anderen Kulturen und Musiken gesucht. Durch Kollaborationen mit Neuer Musik, wie dem Ensemble Modern, über die Zusammenarbeit mit Musikern verschiedener Traditionen in vielen Afrikanischen und Asiatischen Ländern oder generationsübergreifende Zusammenarbeit, wie zB. mit Christian Burchard (Embryo), Joachim Irmler (Faust) oder ihrem Vater Uli Teichmann. Neben der Musik entwickelten sie als Projektinitiatoren und Organisatoren mit dem Goethe Institut u.a. die vielbeachteten Afrika Europa Projekte Berlin - Nairobi BLNRB oder das Folgeprojekt TEN CITIES, welches zehn afrikanische und europäische Szenen kurzgeschlossen hat. Das von Ihnen entwickelte Format Soundcamp hat in Kooperation mit dem Goethe Institut bis dato in Sri Lanka, Mexiko und Pakistan stattgefunden. Im Zuge der Soundcamps begründeten sich die Elektronik Ensembles Karachi Files und Mondmaschine. Workshops, Konzerte und Projekte haben sie in über 60 Ländern gebracht, die selten auf den gängigen Tourplänen zu finden sind: (u.a. Afghanistan, Usbekistan, Honduras oder Angola).
