Grindle produces under the guise of Automatic Window Noise. He is powered by the mind of the Earconscious, to continually search for that something different and unique, a new source of inspiration. Growing up aware of the sounds of 1983, a year of boom boxes, break dancing, Mtv and d.j.'s When the ears first heard the tb303 and tr808 in "scorpio" & "let the music play". Grindle became a d.j. almost by default. People always invited him to parties wanting to hear the latest tunes. This inevitably lead to buying turntables, gear, etc. He started D.J.ing on the radio in 1991 @ WNCW where he became program director for Arc overnight. After an "Arc Overnight" party at the Park Elevator 'G' was "discovered" and asked to host a weekly club night. That lasted until the club closed in 94. From 93-96 Greensboro N.C. had a flourishing rave scene hosted by Ed Labrun. He threw parties at the Depot (w/FRED freaking Gianneli) and Babylon (w/Richie Plastikman Hawtin) back in 92 & 93. Those two shows led Grindle to Detroit where Rich and John Acquaviva shared knowledge of the classic Detroit producers. He has made a continual trek to Detroit since 94 and submersed himself so into the culture on a Radio show Matthew Dear once joked Grindle should move to Detroit and run for mayor. Always more of an ambient style blender until Rolando of U.R. showed him a path of following hand claps (Thanks Ro). Lee Lalli put an event together @ the Zen Den in 98 called Deze Nuttz. This was the first performance of Automatic Window Noise which involved multiple screens, t.v.'s turntables, synthesizers as well as a backing band. Grindle started touring with Blue Collar D.J./Brett Hillyer and a TR909. Thanks to Mr. Lalli the A.W.N. moniker would make a return in 2006 for the 1st installment of Launchpad. Hats off to Mr. Lalli for inspiring a dusting off of the projectors and analog gear! Grindle has produced shows, performed and d.j.'d with Jeff Samuel, Ulysses, Magas, DJ Unknown, Perspects, John Acquaviva, Matthew Dear, Derek Plaslaiko, Detroit Grand Pubas/Heckle and Jeckle, Larry Tee, Greensect, Stereolab, S4, Electric Bird Noise, Laburnum, as well as DJ Icey and DJ Baby Anne;). The following alias have involved Grindle in some form of live performance; Automatic Window Noise, Die Elektro Kartell, G's Cycle Utopie, LUCID DREAMERS, Queso Fundido, Laburnum, & Greensect. Held a residency at Tutto Mondo from opening week in 98 until 2006 with James Thomason. Since than Grindle has moved to Seattle where the techno landscape is more fertile.
