Chris Moore and Paul Growns, who met when Chris advertised for up-and-coming DJs to come and play at his midweek open decks night in the city. Paul was one of the first ones through the door and came along so often that he eventually came on board as a resident DJ; from then on the lads ran the night together for four years, championing the best in untapped DJ talent that the Steel City had to offer. Many of the city's now-established names made their debuts there and went on to much greater things, all thanks to being given an early chance to shine on those dark Wednesday nights. So, the epiphany moment came when one night there's a last minute cancellation, it's too late to get anyone else in and the guys decide to play the whole 6 hours back-to-back; without even knowing it at the time, GrowMore was born. Fast forward to the present day and they find themselves at the forefront of Sheffield's underground club scene, as residents and co-promoters of Cargo, where they've played host to the likes of Swayzak, Glimpse, Evil Eddie Richards, James Priestley, Alex Arnout, Subb-an & Adam Shelton. They also run their own event, Subject*, concentrating on the deeper shades of house music, where guests have included Inland Knights, Rhythm Plate and Pete Dafeet. A collaboration with good friend and Sheffield DJ legend Dan J, where they teamed up to bring Bugz in the Attic's Afronaught 'oop North', set the wheels in motion for their new project, Phono, where three independent promoters have joined forces to pool their party resources into one punch-packing monthly event. With Phono taking off monthly in 2011 and plans for Cargo to go nomadic, with a series of one-off warehouse parties and pop-up club events in the pipeline, GrowMore are looking to simply keep on doing what they do best - bringing first class electronic music to Sheffield. More to come...
