Consummate professional … Serious audiophile … Selector of only the finest tracks. Whether he is pulsing behind the decks, putting on quality house and techno events, scouting the best talent, or gathering dedicated troops at his own infamous pool parties, his discriminating taste sets the bar high. Herb’s fans and supporters have come to expect no less than the best from him – and he delivers. A DJ & promoter since 1999, Herb has been a longtime veteran of the Louisiana dance music community. Herb founded "Antipop" in 2003 at Louisiana State University which helped spawn the "Antipop Radio Show" (B.R. - 2005-2009 KLSU- FM Radio), "Dirty Disco" (B.R. - 2008-2014), and the long running house and techno event "KOMPRESSION" (N.O. - 2010-present) which he runs with partner Erik Browne (aka Unicorn Fukr). Under the Antipop umbrella Herb has promoted / produced over 350+ dance music events at many venues throughout New Orleans and Baton Rouge, including the world famous Tipitinas and House of Blues. Some of the artists featured include: Timo Maas, Matthew Dear, Thugf**ker, Stacey Pullen, Terry Francis, Eats Everything, Mr. C, MANDY, Dj T, Doc Martin, Eddie Richards, Justin Martin & Josh Wink. Herb is also the owner / operator of Able Audio, an AV company which provides the rigs for both Kompression and Church* and is known for high quality sound. But, it is behind the decks where Herb Christopher shines. While being well-known as a motivating force behind the scenes, Herb has built a reputation as a solid, yet understated, performance gem. A longtime lover of various types of house & techno Herb is a true aficionado of 4/4. He has an ear for selecting intricate songs that are not only deep and driving but also musically complex. His selective approach to the anatomy of a show and his passion for house music culminate in a perfect storm of four-four dance floor sensibilities. His approach is seamless and fluid, and his personal style is defined by a distinct, driving sound that meanders from deep and smooth to edgy and techy. Herb has been featured at many events throughout the region including multiple performances at the Voodoo Music & Arts Experience and BUKU Music and Art Project. Herb can be seen regularly at Kompression and weekly in the house and techno area at Church* (Konfession) at the Dragon's Den.
