It all started while growing up in Queens, New York. In his earliest days James spent weekend nights listening to late night Rap radio shows on Kiss FM, WBLS, and on the old Hot 97, and the DJing skills of legends like DJ Red Alert. During summers, he would go to the infamous Queensbridge park jams where the DJ and sound equipment were rigged to run off of the electricity from a light pole. From going to house parties James's eyes were further opened to a mixture of Rap, R&B, House, Freestyle, and Reggae that was very normal for local New York DJ's to play in the mid and late 80's. Then one afternoon while listening to Hot 97, the unmistakable sound of "This is Acid" changed everything. It was a combination of all these elements that began the love of DJing and the eventual emergence of House and electronic dance music, that would become the center of the world for the kid that would someday become DJ James Stratus. Now a Miami resident, James Stratus has paid his dues as a DJ and has been fortunate enough to have been able to play in New York City, New Jersey, Miami, through the South East, Europe, and even the mountains of Haiti. Over the years he has gained respect and recognition from his peers and fans alike by being nothing more than original.
