- Javier Bähr is a DJ and producer from Frankfurt Am Main, Germany.Nicolai Bähr (born 1994) came to electronic music for the first time as a teenager in Darmstadt, his hometown. The music fascinated DJ and producer appearing as Javier Bähr, and so he tried out to work as a DJ and to dive into the different shapes and styles. At first, he was drawn to the Darmstadt scene and explored the techno-terrain in Frankfurt. Starting from 2014 he commuted monthly to Berlin, in order to receive inspiration for his own way. In Berlin, he also cultivated his love for vinyl and since then loves to wander through the large number of record shops in the capital. To date, Javier Bähr has also been a big fan of soundtracks for movies as well as ambient music. He refers to the musical influences of musicians such as Mika Vainio, Ben Frost and Hans Zimmer. For his studies in visual communication he moved to Munich, where he quickly immersed himself in the musical scene. It was larger than the one in Darmstadt, but by far not as important as it is today. From 2015 till 2018 he was Resident DJ of the MMA - Mixed Munich Arts Club. In addition, during that time Bähr was a member of the label and event series „From Another Mind“ that are hosting events world wide. In 2017 Javier founded Rohstoff together with his good mate Svar. Rohstoff is an ambient label and monthly radio show on Munich community Radio80000. It aims to present its audience soundscapes outside the usual realm of club music. It emphasizes on atmosphere and mood over traditional musical structure. Rohstoff seeks to create spatially extended, pulsing ambiances and rhythms that can range from somber and sometimes eerie to more optimistic tones. At the nights, he likes the opening. „In opening up I can tell the best story, which somehow guides this evening. I can start at 0 and accompany the guests from ambient, through experimental and downtempo to hypnotic techno on a musical journey. I like playing deep, impulsive and spherical techno „,he describes his own style. Bähr is thrilled with an ever-increasing audience, so he is now working on his own productions: „I have many ideas and imaginations about where the journey will go for me, I am working on it at the moment“. In addition to Ben Klock, he also calls Mike Parker, Donato Dozzy and the label Sandwell District as artists who have inspired his own path. Yet, for Bähr it is important to organize his own time, as he is commited to a full time job at a marketing agency. By side he likes to spend time in the studio, doing sport activities or photography.
