Jesse Kuch is a journalist, DJ and the brains behind Australian techno and house imprint Open Records. With more than 50 releases in their catalogue (many of which have enjoyed considerable golden runs in the charts of the world’s biggest dance music retailer Beatport.com), Open Records is one of Down Under’s busiest and most prolific techno and house labels. Add to this over 10 years of DJing – which has included performing some of Australia’s biggest boutique events, including Rainbow Serpent Festival, Subsonic Music Festival, Tribeadelic New Year’s Eve, Strawberry Fields Festival and Earth Frequency Festival, alongside the mighty commercial juggernaut timeOUT Day In The Park and several tours of Japan – and Jesse is truly one of the most exciting talents to emerge from the tropical paradise that is Cairns. From warming up for Claude Von Stroke, to mixing out of Nick Warren, bridging a gap between Phil Keiran and Max Cooper, or even as a guest artist on Australia’s biggest dance music radio show Mix Up on Triple J alongside superstar Joris Voorn, Jesse is an accomplished DJ and live performer, able to adapt to many different situations. His sound easily traverses from deep and tribal house, through driving party techno and funky tech-house, yet always underpinned by hypnotic percussive grooves and warm, pushing bass. Jesse is currently hard at work on his third compilation album, the long-awaited follow-up to the now classic Expansion Pack, alongside preparing to celebrate 10 years of Open Records in 2017.
