  • Jinku is a Stockholm-based Kenyan electronic producer championing the sound of Tribal Downtempo.
    Jinku is a Stockholm-based Kenyan electronic producer and DJ, who has been at the forefront of the NuNairobi movement. He is most well known as a founding member of the music collective East African Wave (EA WAVE), which came onto the scene in 2015. He’s been steadily refining his fusion of Afro House, R&B, and African percussion into a genre he defines as tribal downtempo while remixing for well-known music acts such as Branko, Daniel Haaksman, Frank Yamma, Mabiisi, Makadem and Ami Faku. Jinku has released music through respected labels such as Enchufada, Man Recordings, On The Corner Records, Banana Hill and Lump Records. His records have received support from Worldwide FM, Boiler Room, DJ Mag and The NATIVEmag. In 2022 he curated music for XLR8R+ and contributed to the XLR8R Podcast showcasing the sounds of Nairobi. Both his albums Oasis Park III and Passenger 555 made it onto The NativeMag's 'Best R&B Projects of 2022' list at No.10 and No.7 respectively. Ableton has named him the city's Rising star.
