  • Deep and melodious, intertwined with organic sounds of nature, Joep Mencke creates a compelling and explorative experience to evolve. Expect melancholic chord-progressions, hypnotising bass-lines and driving drums to accompany you on your journey.
For the Dutch Dj and producer, music is a powerful tool to evolve. Joep’s professional musical path began with the captivating rhythms of Shelter in the Sky (2016) and Azul (2017), his first official releases via Crossings, both of which quickly became the imprint’s most popular tracks. Music was always deeply rooted in Joep’s life. From playing various instruments and joining a band, a profound shift took place during his time at Afrikaburn. The ephemeral city of Tankwa Town allowed him to define his purpose to make music more than just a listening experience. He thrives to ignite a desire within us to delve deeper into ourselves, surrender and embrace change. Asiri, released in 2019 on the Happy Camper Records reached over 3 million Spotify plays thereby becoming the label’s most popular track to date. A successful and bright journey had begun for the Dutch artist. Joep’s music is an ode to nature, the essence of life. Eager to contribute to important environmental and social matters with his music, his EP I Sea, in collaboration with The New York Times’ writer Ian Urbina for Outlaw Ocean was created to raise awareness on the lawlessness on the high seas and encourage ocean preservation. Through Klassified, Joep released Trust the Wild and his EP Satare both characterised by the enticing omnipresence of organic sounds. The label also released in 2022 Even ft. Benjamin Sacks. This nostalgic track accompanied by Dutch vocals reflecting on the duality within life and our inner freedom was played across various Dutch radio stations: 538, 3fm and SLAM!. His continuing relationship with the label alongside the national success of his previous song prepared Joep Mencke for the release of his debut album Unalome in October 2022. Composed of eleven tracks, it is his first creation fully rooted in his purpose of using music as a transformative tool for consciousness and towards healing. Each track embodies a particular state on the path to enlightenment. It begins with courage – to start a journey towards growth and ends with enlightenment – the ultimate intimacy with all things in life. From Mexico City to Montreal, Essaouira to Istanbul, Ibiza, Amsterdam, London or Barcelona, Joep Mencke’s tracks travel the world. The Dutch artist values his strong ties with The Gardens of Babylon and Burning Man communities. His most recent sets for the Monastery Festival and the Robot Heart art car epitomize how his music radiates happiness, bringing people together across the globe. 2023 begins on a high note for the Dutch Dj and producer who will be taking off to his first Australia tour, spreading and expanding his music to the other side of the world. Accept his invitation and embark on a journey towards growth, traveling with the frequencies of his music.
