- "I make music, I play music, I love music. I hate genre classifications. I believe techno can be mixed with disco. My bottom line is, 'Does it feel good??' If the answer is Yes, then stay and shake your buns. If the answer is No, then go somewhe..Joshua has been a music lover all his life. He played upright and electric bass in a variety of bands over the years, ultimately completing a masters degree in jazz studies at USC in 2005. He fell in love with electronic music throughout his university years, started to DJ, and inevitably started to produce as well. He crashed onto the scene in 2006 with 'the Coldcuts Ep' on Salted Music, quickly followed up with several successful Ep's, and was soon known for articulate productions that crossed sampling with live instrumentation. People like to classify their music, but Joshua didn't quite fit in one genre or the other. He was most commonly labeled a 'jackin' producer, even though he doesn't relate to that sound alone. In 2010 he started his own label, Golden State Recordings, which focuses on Quality Music from any genre. His tastes go all over the board, and the way he describes his sound would be a term he calls 'CHUGGIN'. Chuggin can be DJ Heather, Chuggin can be Lee Burridge. Heavy beats, bumpin basslines, and harmonically anything between soulful and straight up spooky as long as there's a little funk in there somewhere :-). Joshua's goal for the near future is to diversify. He wants to work and release with different artists and labels across the globe.
