Originating from Paris, France, Malcolm Dakeyo starts making music in the late 80's as a member of a demo band called Future Minds, using only an Atari ST and later a Commodore Amiga to produce music. He then continues on his musical journey when attending in the early 90's to the first underground rave parties throughout the French capital. Deeply into house and techno at that time, he is immediately hooked on the raw and fresh music played and decides to take part in the action. As a result he starts spinning in 95/96 at different clubs and parties in France, and soon gets into producing his own tracks, performing his first hardcore/break beat live-act at the renowned Gibus club, one of the first clubs in Paris to program this kind of music. In 98 he gets professionally involved in music distribution and retail, and establishes himself in the South of France, where he will meet and collaborate with several artists, such as French Dj and Producer Pilooski, with whom he will work on various projects during a few years. At that time Malcolm D. also joins the team behind the famous French web radio and online musical magazine called Soundicate. During this period, he also produces experimental music under his D_Tekt moniker, influenced by labels such as Miami-based Chocolate Industries and Beta Bodega, and is an active member of the Inkorporation, a French collective of DJ's and VJ's performing in Europe, USA, and China. However, 2005 sees the end of Inkorporation, and Malcolm D. decides to take a break from the musical scene, but not completely, as he begins to work on video and multimedia installations with various contemporary artists such as the French photographer Lionel Bayol-Themines or the E/I collective. From there on he will start on a deep immersion into his first passion, namely early disco and electro-funk, which will be the inspirational ground of his new project.
