- The infamous duo who go by the name KSF are a well established electronic production/Dj team from the land of fire and ice, Iceland. They have already made big waves within the music scene in their homeland. Working together for a number of years, thei..KSF (KILLER SOUNDING FREQUENCIES) IS ONE OF THE HOTTEST DANCE/MUSIC BANDS IN ICELAND. FRIDRIK THORLACIUS AND SIGURJON FRIDRIKSSON ARE THE MEN BEHIND KSF, THEY HAVE BEEN IN THE MUSIC SCENE FOR A QUITE SOME TIME AND KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO ATTRACT A CROWD AND COLLABORATE A PARTY! HOW LONG HAVE KSF BEEN WORKING TOGETHER AND HOW DID YOUR COLLAB BEGIN.? We began working together in the year 2012 and started remixing right away. Everything got going from there when we remixed songs like: Sisý Ey (Aint Got Nobody), Gorillaz (Feel Good Inc), Nikka Costa (Like A Feather) James Blake (Retrograde), that is one of our biggest tracks still to date.! We have also been working a lot with the talented icelandic rapper Alvia and recently she finished our latest collaboration called "Sugar Complex" it has a real influence to "The Prodigy" HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE KSF MUSICAL BACKGROUND.? Friðrik has more experience on that field, he was making hip hop beats back in the day's and got influenced a lot by the house music scene and that is what got the boy's working together as they like pretty much the same style of house music. Fridrik was playing a lot for the promoter Techno.is back in 2006-2012 and was playing alongside big names like Deadmau5, Tiesto, Fedde le Grand, David Guetta,Pendulum, Mickey Slim, Chris Lake, Gus Gus, Benny Benassi, Dash Berlin, Dj Lucca plus more. Back in 2010 Fridrik got in the top 10 Finalists remix competition with deadmau5 and beatport.com. Sigurjon started his house music interest early and dedicated himself to the scene and has gotten real far becoming one of the best house dj's in iceland. From an early age, Sigurjon showed great interest in music and influenced by his older brother Valdimar he soon got interested in electronic music. Living next door to a record shop he frequently visited the shop after school and hung around for hours, listening to the albums in the House and electronic section. Growing up watching MTV on a daily basis and waiting for the right moment to press REC when the right song came along. Collected multiple videos as well as making mix- tapes from the radio that sprung fast into Sigurjón’s interest soon enough and showed that music was something he had a great passion for. Pursuing his dream and meeting his best friend Fridrik ignited the music-maker in him as we know him today. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC.? We have found our KSF sound, that thing that makes you bite your lip and "make that face expression"! That is what we want people to feel every time. We also want the people to feel the joy that we feel when we are making music, there is nothing more exciting then making a new track that is gonna move somebody on the dance floor. That is the connection we have with the people, "THAT IS KSF"!. WHAT KIND OF GEAR DO WE USE. ? More or less we use Ableton Live, it is user friendly and we know how it works from A-Z. But we love to work with our own samples, like make our own hihats with our voice or sample our own vocals. That makes our tracks more alive and more special. We don't wanna be programmed in our music making, it has to be organic and we love making music with anyone at anytime, specially when there is an idea at a party maybe and just go to the studio the same night and just go for it, when we are in a mood for producing we are unstoppable! WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME KSF.? The group was formed with three friends, (Karó, Sigurjón & Fridrik) The idea was to use every members first name letter, so the outcome was KSF and Fridrik came up with the idea to have it mean something so he came up with (Killer Sounding Frequencies) and that is what KSF is all about and it suits us quite well actually.
