Biografía
- Growing up on the outskirts of London with a Dad who played trumpet in a Jazz band and big brother who introduced him to Disco, Mal was bitten by the dance music bug early.listening to pirate radio in the mid 80s sparked his obsession for underground music and travel to Europe and the States sourcing vinyl. Before long he was a regular at Future and Shoom and actively involved with the flourishing house music scene’s ‘summer of love’ organising and DJing at his own events featuring DOP, Jazzy M, Fabi Paras, and Andy Weatherall. In ‘89 a three-week trip to DJ at a friend's Sydney model agency turned into a lifetime in Australia. As resident DJ at DOME at the showgrounds Sydney quickly latched on to Mal’s talent as a DJ and his ear for a tune. In 1990 Mal began organising and DJing early Sydney warehouse party such Drama, Deep Joy, Eternity, M25, as well as being involved in running and DJing Bounce a Sunday club night. With his partner Michelle, Mal was instrumental in introducing Australia to the delights of international DJ talent such as Carl Cox, Sasha, Grooverider, and DOP by touring and promoting them on their maiden national Australian tours. Such experiences paved the way for Mal as co-promoter and resident DJ to establish the legendary club nights DeLiCiOuS on Saturdays, and High Times on Thursdays at the infamous Kings Cross Underground Cafe. Famous for delivering upfront house music to a crowd who couldn't get enough, both club nights ran weekly from 1995 to 2000. Via D DeLiCiOuS Mal was instrumental in launching a number of local DJ careers, hosting regular top international guest DJs and introducing Sydney house music scene to many underground House tunes now thought of as ‘anthems’.
