- Mixing up elegant Postdigital House, Techno and Dub Techno...Supagroove Summary: Since moving to Barcelona 19 years ago, Mark J (aka Supagroove) has worked with many of Spain's coolest electronic music brands such as Blanco y Negro Records (A&R projects with Vendetta Records), Loca FM (Broadcasting in the Canary Isles) and Pacha Group, DJing regularly at the first ever Pacha in the world in Sitges for 5 years. As a ‘muso’ hack, Mark, until the pandemic, was the nightlife editor at Barcelona Connect Magazine, and has written high profile features for Decoded Magazine, the Sun newspaper, or whoever else will pay real money. Subjects from memory include; Jean-Michel Jarre, Billy Nasty, Charlotte de Witte, Coyu, Dubfire, Laurent Garnier, Mark Reeve and Vitalic. From the early 2000s, he also put in a few hours representing, or managing artists, like vocalist Kaysee (projects with Subliminal Records, Hed Kandi, Pacha Recordings & Blanco y Negro), Lenny Fontana (Studio 54 & Defected Records) and Andrew Galea from The Freestylers. From this, he gained extensive music industry experience, especially in broadcast journalism, digital rights management and music publishing. Mark J Full Fat Background: Formerly a spin doctor/lobbyist, he is now a journalist, radio presenter and sync-button soldier of ill repute. As a DJ, Mark plays a selection of elegant, post-digital House, Techno and Dub Techno, as well as some personal edits of a few classics from back in the day. Mark has headlined, or opened events, in quite a few different countries too, featuring alongside some of the world's finest electronic music artists; including Agoria, Alan Fitzpatrick, Anthony Rotter, Ben Sims, Billy Nasty, Funk D'Void, Silicone Soul, Stanton Warriors or Vince Watson. He was the label manager at Sintetics Digital, a label consistently delivering top-quality underground techno under head-honcho Javi Lago and supported by DJs like Laurent Garnier, Luciano and Gayle San. Before that, in 2007, he began a record label with Slovenian DJ and producer Girandon, Radioactivity Productions, which featured productions by himself, Girandon, Tony Thomas, Mindskap, Dani Sbert and Rob Small... tracks were supported by Stonebridge, Lucien Foort or Roger Sanchez’s Release Yourself Radio Show (Hot Download of the week' 3 weeks in a row), as well as other leading House and Techno DJs at this time. He also released co-productions on Tony Thomas' imprint Progress Records and remixed Techno legend Devilfish on Barcelona's Ahoren Music in collaboration with Teysel. At home in Barcelona, he has shared the decks with Javi Lago (Sintetics), Cipy (Haiku 575), John Jacobsen & David Almans (Pacha Sitges), Mikel Molina (Sushi Productions), Tony Verdi (Fibra Optica), David Moreno (Ibiza Dance) or Triumph (Espai Music). Also with Parks n' Wilson, DIY and Justin Robertson during the early '90s in the UK.
