- DJ and founder of Pinkman.“If you don’t see it being done around you, do it yourself.” When it comes to commitment to underground electronic music, you’ll struggle to find anyone more dedicated than Marsman. Firmly based in Rotterdam, he reflects the raw, defiant spirit of the city as much as he has moulded its sound. Marsman founded the label Pinkman alongside its three offshoots Mindri, Broken Dreams and Charlois, ran a beloved record store at the beating heart of Rotterdam’s creative district, and co-founded Rotterdam's online radio Operator. What his work has in common is its ability to form a community out of a disparate group of outsiders with bravado. As a DJ, Marsman wants to make you dance with your head held high. His sound evokes a retro-futuristic euphoria. Nostalgic without being stuck in the past, it fosters the return of songs to the club; of sex, warmth and basslines to the dancefloor. His selections breathe fresh air and no-bullshit sincerity into a nightlife packed by irony and short-circuit trends. In his decade of DJing, Marsman has toured the world and will keep on doing this till the end of time. So far Marsman has DJ’d across Europe, toured the U.S.A, Mexico and Colombia, and cites a first stint behind the decks at legendary Berlin institution Panoramabar as one of his most special DJing experiences. In the months and years ahead, he plans to share his electronic music vision – that fluid, futurist Pinkman sound – with more dancers around the World.
