[French bio on https://marst.fr] SHORT: Born in Paris and spotted by Laurent Garnier, Martial Thebault aka Marst - pronounced "Mars-tea" - has been on the rise since his first appearance on the French electronic scene in 2012. His DJ sets convey a positive, harmonious vision of techno and house music. In just a few years, Marst has released original tracks, EPs and remixes on renowned imprints such as Diynamic and Bedrock, receiving support from industry heavyweights like Dixon, Âme, Solomun, John Digweed, Damian Lazarus and more. LONG: Born on February 6, 1988 in Le Blanc-Mesnil, near Paris, his main attractions since his early childhood are related to music. At the age of 4, he joined a drum workshop, an instrument he would love for years, obtaining several diplomas at the prestigious Agostini school. At the same time, he is self-taught on various instruments such as piano/keyboard, guitar and bass. In love with verses and rhymes, and listening to the universe of Gainsbourg, Polnareff or Thiéfaine, Marst becomes in adolescence the leader of a French pop-rock band as a singer-songwriter and wins several stepping stones. He also obtains a grant from the Haute-Normandie Region, taking up a challenge: to produce a 100% solo EP. The world of C.A.M. (Computer Assisted Music) has always been present in his artistic evolution. Alongside acoustic instruments, he found himself very young in possession of an Atari, an old Korg Wavestation, a sampler and an expander, the ultimate gifts of a great musician cousin. This is how Marst began to explore the psychedelic world of machines in the late 90s. He tinkers, discovers sampling, has fun for many years sampling sounds and building arrangements. Magazine CD-ROMs and software demos gradually lead him, in 2000, to his first synthetic tests. In 2005, Marst broke his piggy bank to get more professional material. His musical culture, influenced by rock but also by the electronic sounds of Detroit, Chicago, New York or Berlin leads him to discover Laurent Garnier who will quickly become a real source of inspiration. Thereafter, he will grant his breath only for electronic music and the composition of tracks with powerful house and techno beats, always melodic, by pure musical philosophy and respect for harmony. Seeing his acoustic thoughts take shape electronically, this is also done by mixing, since 2006, with the acquisition of his first turntables. The machine is launched: Marst becomes a resident of the Shari Vari in Rouen and plays in most of the bars in the city, which unfortunately no longer has any electronic club(s). He is spotted to play the first part of Vitalic at 106, the current music hall. The public is seduced, other cities open their doors to him in their turn : Paris, Poitiers, Caen... In June 2011, he decided to pause the DJ sets to devote himself more seriously to production. At the beginning of July, he puts online one of his compositions, "Sun On The Moon", a powerful melodic techno track, supported by an omnipresent saxophone riff, and to his astonishment the effect is immediate! Listening and sharing on social networks accumulate, supports flourish: Madben, the Sonic Crew (Astropolis Festival), Agoria, Seth Troxler, Nuno Dos Santos, Ian O'Donovan ... He is invited to clubs and festivals. The second slap comes with the release of the "B side" of his first EP: "Waterlight" and the total support this time of Laurent Garnier who plays him in his weekly radio show "It Is What It Is" (Le Mouv'/ Pure Fm / Couleur 3) and continues to play him all over the world, almost at each of his performances (Time Warp, Nuits Sonores, Berghain & Panorama Bar, London, New York ...). He even comes to compare it to his famous "Crispy Bacon", an honor for Marst! "Sun On The Moon EP" will be released in March 2012. Since then, the requests for productions and remixes point the tip of their nose ... He has since released original productions and remixes on labels such as Diynamic Music, Bedrock, KMS, Definition:Music, King Street Sounds, Click Recordings...
