Matt Hardwick’s past has been well documented. His strong association and influence on the global phenomenon that is Gatecrasher is something with which we are all too familiar. But lets get up to speed with the Matt Hardwick of today as his Dj profile moves into overdrive... Having recently completed his first BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix- to great plaudits worldwide- Matt has joined the who’s who when it comes to the name Dj’s on the world scene. Further, his rising profile has been consolidated with the completion of two highly prestigious Resident Transmission compilation mixes for Gatecrasher in the last six months. In a time when world music sales are down, the compilations performed excellently worldwide and jumped to the top of the compilation charts- outselling the compilations of (dare we say it) more established names. Matt has now become a truly global Dj, playing the four corners of the earth and has developed a strong fan base. Just this year Matt has enjoyed successful tours throughout the USA and South America, Asia and throughout Europe- with tours in Africa and Australia planned before the year is out. This is not forgetting his commitments in the UK where Matt is regularly playing for the best organisations in UK clubbing- including Cream, Slinky, The Gallery, Serious and of course Gatecrasher. All this aside, it is perhaps Matt’s production profile, which will come to the fore in the coming months. His collaboration with production duo Smith & Pledger, entitled Day One, has already won support from the likes of Dj Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Ferry Corsten and has been snapped up by the highly prestigious Anjuna Beats label with a release date pencilled in for September. Production Gurus Above and Beyond actually requested that they do a remix of the track. This is an accolade in itself as the boys are very particular about who they remix- they are currently doing a mix for Madonna!! The track has, in addition, been included on a number of high profile compilations- including the prestigious Ministry of Sound Ibiza annual. Matt is currently working on a follow up single with the guys, which will see them recording under the name Shadowlands. Following up their first single will be no mean feat- but Matt believes that the follow up could be even bigger!! With another Gatecrasher compilation planned before the end of the year and the production side of his career moving into overdrive, there is little doubt that his Dj profile will go through the roof in the coming months.
