Biografía

  • DJ/Producer/Artist residing in Chicago, US
Behind a sly smile and genteel persona lies Chicago’s newest master of thoughtful, soul-shaking house. Over the past several years, Max Jacobson has risen to the forefront of Chicago’s electronic music scene. From the city’s top clubs to its infamous underground spaces, a legion of fans has been electrified by Max’s unmistakable sound. Combining a love of classic house with the deepest edges of the techno vanguard, Max’s ear is tuned toward swirling, moody atmospherics and layered funk—all mixed with a slice of sex and the gentle caress of a soft, driving kick drum. His sets have the rare power to be all things to all people. They make DJs think, boys sweat, and girls move. The list of Max’s accomplishments is impressive. He has played alongside a veritable who’s who of industry favorites: Richie Hawtin, Wolf+ Lamb, Steve Bug, D’Julz, Paco Osuna, and tINI, among others. His adventurous tastes have landed him international bookings in Berlin, Ibiza, Mexico City, and beyond. With fellow partner in crime Mantas Steles he founded tied, a party series that anchors Chicago to its underground roots. But what’s most exciting for Max is his blossoming production career. Described by Kate Simko as “the freshest new house producer in Chicago,” his debut EP for Klectik garnered support from Simko herself as well as other luminaries such as Brothers’ Vibe, Maceo Plex, and Agaric. His Klectik track, “5am Friends,” was included in Beatport's weekly “Must Hear” Top 10 tracks for Deep House, and a recent release on Akbal Music made an appearance on Anja Schneider's Dance Under the Blue Moon radio show. 2014 sees new tracks on Vekton Black as well as Amam, a key new label that boasts a roster of Losoul, Tale of Us, Jay Haze, and many more. As he keeps pushing his sound forward, expect great things from Max, an up-and-coming artist for whom everything is possible.
