Dutch millipede Nick Lapien offers a view of one of his intriguing projects, this time as Metropolis. This alter-ego, inspired by the 1927 cultfilm, gives his idea of how the city would look like if it was created out of musical waves. Neo-electronic, mechanical, raw and as dark as a film noir. His first release came out on Belgium imprint Other Heights and was received warmly in a small community of dark old-school electro and techno-heads, after being tipped by the influenceable Berlin records-store Hardwax and charted twice by dystopian techno producer Milton Bradley. At the end of 2013 the EP was called out as one of the best records of the year by the New York based store Dopejams. Metropolis 2nd EP came out the New York imprint Sequencias and showed a more experimental side of this project. In 2013 Metropolis premiered his analog live-set at Griessmuehle Berlin, followed up by bookings at Field Records Showcase in Paradiso Amsterdam as part of Amsterdam Dance Event, NYE in Fabrik Neukoln, Humboldthain Berlin, appearances on RedLightRadio, Studio R and more. New Metropolis material will come out early 2014 on Sequencias (US) and Photic Fields (NL)
