Biografía

  • Its all about the Groove...
Nathan Mifsud, DJ Mifi, started out his musical journey around 10 years ago in Gibraltar. Since a very young age he has always been fascinated by music in all its forms, and as he grew up developed an interest in the breakbeat movement in the south of Spain, that at the time was driven by strong melodies with funky, groovy beats. At the age of 16 he teamed up with 2 fellow Gibraltarian DJ's, Mr Bray-K and Dj XtC, to form the collective, Sykofreakz. Together they started producing and had relative success, releasing 2 tracks in compilation albums on DJ Kultur's label Reflex Music. Their popularity grew in Spain and this led them to perform in various gigs around the south of Spain, aswell as in their hometown. However with time, and the growing popularity of Nuskool Breakbeat in this scene, DJ Mifi soon lost interest in this movement and strived for something different. In 2004 he became interested in House music, and the ever popular funky house of the time, and after gaining a residency in the busiest club in Gibraltar at the time, Sax II, he slowly began to introduce this type of music. After two good solid years behind the decks every friday he became well known for his energetic and groovin sets. In 2006 he enrolled in Southampton Solent Univeristy where he spent 3 years studying Digital Music. He successfully Graduated from this in 2009 and this was an invaluable experience for him as he matured musically and furthered his productions. During this time he played in Junk & Soul Cellar to loving crowds, and also completed an album entitled 4Seasons. This concept album explored the different moods created by the seasons and he translated them musically into a collection of 12 tracks. Through his time in uni he also kept busy during the summer back home in Gibraltar, gaining residency at Boyd's, Gibraltar biggest ever Nightclub where he played alongside some great international talent such as Jamie Fisher, Magic Solutions & Dani Moreno. He has also Dj'ed at the Boyd's National Day Terrace Party to over 3,000 people twice providing listeners with an eclectic mix of Deep/Tech House & Techno. Known for his slightly more underground tendencies nowadays, he still thrives on translating his tastes across to listeners and ensuring they have a good time out on the dancefloor. With his debut release on F*** House Music, recieving steady support, its upwards and onwards from here..
