- Mike Todd, CEO of DEEP GRUV Records: As a DJ, Mike Todd, aka DEEPGRUV, tours & specializes in not only HOUSE/TECH-HOUSE; But also - Open Format, RNB, & Hip-Hop Music. All his sets are for the people, and always ultra smooth.ARTIST CURRENT LOCATION DETROIT, MICHIGAN ARTIST BIO DEEPGRUV'S (MIKE TODD) BIO: As a young teenager, DEEPGRUV was Dj-ing basement parties, making 8 track tapes, throwing parties all over Detroit/Canada and later doing grooves in Germany as a young soldier. As he traveled abroad, he later migrated back to Michigan State University, where he quickly dialed into the local party scene. Soon Mike was promoting small concerts and multiple club and college parties on his own, and eventually linked up with top Promoters in the City. This pairing became a lethal torch on and off the campus of MSU. Hitting the ground running were natural traits picked up from Military discipline techniques, along with off duty musical pursuits. As duty called, DEEPGRUV graduated from Michigan State while simultaneously becoming a young Military Officer during the military invasion of Kuwait. He later went on to Graduate School to obtain a Masters in Business from the prestigious Naval PostGraduate School. With a call back to stateside and overseas assignments, music and music alone fueled him and became his escape throughout his arduous career. While off duty, music comforted DEEPGRUV ‘til the end of his last tour of duty. The dedication to be the best soldier and officer undoubtedly laid the foundation to his musical pursuits. His skills to understand the unique ebb and flows of music seemed to become simply natural. He studied the surgical nuances of various Detroit mix tapes and played Vinyl records over and over again like a kid studying for the bar exam. The energy of music has fueled him since playing records at 2 years old on his Auntie’s custom vinyl record player. All of this combined, created a unique musical path for Mike. He’d eventually rub elbows with various Billboard Artists, Radio DJs, numerous radio personalities and program directors throughout the country. The business side of music was illuminated and heightened when offered the opportunity to co-own a strong Las Vegas record label, “7 Dayz Entertainment!” This led to concerts, parties, artist development and distribution deals. The most critical lesson of his being - Understanding the significance of contracts, recovering from pitfalls and negotiating optimal outcomes. These hard lessons never stopped DEEPGRUV. He knew, nearly from birth, his goal was to become a musical success! Presently, This Label Executive/Dj has been fueled by fire Dj-ing all across the country and able now to devote his energy full time to his craft and new record label, “DEEP GRUV RECORDS!” Since coming back onto the Detroit scene, Dj Mike Todd has enjoyed multiple residencies and bookings each and every week for a decade plus. He's put out collaboration records with Naeba Records and Rennie Foster. Mike credits this successful run to countless hours of the study of music, truly loving the people he performs for, establishing great relationships and understanding the art form and tandem of music and business.
