A multi-instrumentalist who came into electronic music with over a decade’s worth of classical training, Montréal fixture Mossa found his production groove in the ‘90s when he began refurbishing scraps of minimal techno, jazz, funk, latin and electro into rarely symmetrical, full-bodied, loopy sculptures. At the 2010 edition of Mutek, Mossa unleashed new material from his latest album, « Festine », which boasts contributions from Mike Shannon, Dave Aju, Pezzner, Qzen and Matias Kaden. His eclectic discography of sample-heavy house compositions combines the lascivious with the ludicrous, enamouring connoisseurs with its colourful flourishes, face-lifted beats and flirty textures. Mossa notably shared releases and remixes on elite labels such as Seattle’s Orac, France’s Circus Company, Canada’s Cynosure, Brooklyn’s Thema and his own imprint/collective, Complot. His tracks have been checked and mixed by the likes of Death in Vegas, Deetron and Akufen, and remixed by Swayzak, John Tejada, Ark and San Proper. Mossa has presented many forward-thinking projects such as his DJ Orchestra project that mesmerised more than one, in Montréal and Paris—groundbreaking music making with multiple turntablists. His House Unlimited event in his home town is keeping the fans on alert when it comes to fine dancing and great vibes, focusing on the house music from the last century. He also teaches Djing to kids in schools in the city, sharing his passion for records and cool beats.
