housin‘ authority meets jazz motorcitysoul is the deephouse production-joint from matthias vogt (re:jazz, infracom records) and c-rock. the project is named after the german motorcity (ruesselsheim, frankfurt, the opel headquarter). so far m/c/s released productions and remixes for infracom, stir15, blaze, duplex inc, abullah ibrahim(!), re:jazz and phoniqe feat. erlend oye on dessous recordings. in 2005 we released the chez damier co-production kids in the streets "keep on turning" on stir15 recordings which timewarped the listener back to the high days of the chicago prescription & balance sound. "keep on turning" was published as a limited edition and is currently sold out! [re:jazz] mastermind and motorcitysoul founder Matthias Vogt about the development of motorcitysoul: "The one-man company Motorcitysoul (remember: I am the one on the cover of the debut album while C-Rock was to be found in the producer credits) has turned into a duo. Let’s say the Pet Shop Boys of deep house (me being Neil Tennant!). Working together on my so-called solo album proved to be harmonious and convincing. Thanks to the Rocker for the smooth transition - one became two: We are Motorcitysoul! C-Rock is the classical DJ and producer. The studio if stuffed with piles of vinyl records, computer stuff and synthesizers wherever you look. Above all that he is a fantastic cook! Apart from me being a DJ I also embody the music theoretical background. As I can act out the studied musician whenever working in my two other (INFRACom!-) projects, Matthias Vogt Trio and [re:jazz], I rather enjoy the DJ perspective of Motorcitysoul. Still the repetitive structures of Motorcitysoul have much more in common with my jazz work than one might think possible. Another link between us is soccer. We do some rough games at the Ostpark in Frankfurt and on Saturdays we can regularly be found behind the goal of Oka Mikolov or Markus Proell cheering for our team: Eintracht Frankfurt. By the way, we got to know each other working for Groove Magazine – ages ago."
