    Iain Mac AKA Pyz has been an established promoter and DJ for over ten years. With a unique and current style that reflects the elegant chic of Parisian Electronica, the intricate & linear sound of Berlin minimalism and the raw, upfront electronic rave style of UK, Pyz has played to audiences across Europe. His sets are wide-ranging, incorporating everything from 4 minute long blends, to fast choppy mixes, and spanning genres such as minimal techno , bass driven rave, electro and Italo Disco. Iain Macdonald born in Glasgow in 1983, Pyz’s early music tastes were of the heavy variety – drawn to metal and industrial music from the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Rage against the Machine, Faith no More and Serj Tankian. He eventually swapping his drum kit for decks, pyz was initially attracted to turntable through hip-hop and the art of scratching. It was in this genre that Pyz cut his teeth. However, upon hearing Jeff Mills’ ‘Live at the Liquid Room CD’, his passion for dance music was well and truly ignited and has influenced his sets ever since. Initially playing out a pounding array of hard techno, Pyz was also inspired in these early days by Dave Clark’s beat juggling and scratching expertise, and by the heavy beats and bass of Glen Wilson and Mike Humphries’s Punish Records. DJ Hell’s Gigolo Records and acts like Miss Kitten & The Hacker with there early synth pop also become key inspirations in creating his unique style. Pyz moved to Scotland’s capital in 1999. Hooking up with a talented bunch of friends and acquaintances on the Edinburgh club scene, Pyz established notorious mid-week night Split at Cabaret Voltaire and the infamous Access club night at the Honeycomb. The nights were something of a showcase for skilled and gifted new artists, but also hosted some world-wide legends. DJs that Pyz has had the pleasure of working with include – DJ Hell, The Hacker, Ivan Smagghe, Popof, Surgeon, Agoria, Luke Slater, Derek May and Kevin Saunderson to name but a few. Pyz has also clocked up an impressive gig list – with main residences at Spilt, Access and We are Electric, plus a regular visit to Bloc in Brighton and a bi-monthly residency at So Be It @ Zigfrid Von Underbelly in London. European audiences have been witness to his electronic magic, Fon fon in Barcelona, Avalanche in France (and in Austria). Not to mention gracing the airwaves on Fresh Air FM, Brap FM and Dilated Radio He has also played the legendary Wickerman festival twice, and for the last 3 years pyz has rocked headline set's on after hours stage @ T in the Park Scotland’s largest music festival. Pyz has been dubbed as “one of the hardest working men in the Scottish techno scene” by the Scottish media. His two successful nights have an extensive and dedicated following. He has played extensively, and has been lucky to do so with many of the artists that have inspired him. Now residing in Melbourne pyz has already began work on his new event STRAY. Launched in January 2012 with a sold out boat party STRAY has now become a regular event on the Melbourne scene. Pyz is also the main resident & Co-Promoter of Yaldi Boomtime an infamous event know for its decadent crowed. With Appearances along side the Melbourne Techno Collective pyz has graced the stages of Revolver, Killing Time, Brown Ally and Miss libertine. With more Stray & Yaldi events planed things are starting looking interesting...
