Biografía
- Music journalist, radio host, DJ, producer and promoter, Nicolás Castro has been a leading light in Santiago's underground scene for over a decade, and is currently leading the disco revival scene in Chile's capital.Since over a decade, the life of Nicolás Castro is fully dedicated to music. And now he’s considered one of the most respected and trusted voices on the matter in Chile, not only for his daily job as a radio host for both local FM stations and Red Bull Radio on a global scale, but also because of his night reputation as an eclectic DJ and producer. In 2013, alongside Sebastián Román he debuted the duo Roman & Castro, quickly gathering a local and regional following, appearing on the forefront of a new techno movement with a strong latin flavor. Thus they got to perform in the biggest stages in the country, such as Lollapalooza, Fauna Primavera and Creamfields, as well as playing in Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Spain and France. They put out their music through labels such as Roam Recordings (USA), Bottom Forty (USA), Sanfuentes Records (USA/Chile), Disque Discos (Mexico) and Pirotecnia (Chile). These days his focus is mainly put on launching his solo project, under the alias Nico Castro, that reconnects him with his more joyful side and eclecticism on the mix, blending disco with house as well as Latin and African rhythms. Through his own party Fiebre and his monthly residency at Noa Noa Club, he’s the main responsible for the resurgence of disco as a key part of Santiago’s nightlife setup. With that in mind he’s now preparing his first original solo releases, as well as some remixes.
