Biografía
- Berlin-based drummer/percussionist/singer/synth twiddler/DJ solo and in projects Wolf Müller & Niklas Wandt Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge Sascha Funke & Niklas Wandt running the Smells party series at SameheadsNiklas Wandt is a percussionist, synthesist, producer, DJ and radio host. He lives in Berlin, where his eclectic approach is heard most regularly in basement club Sameheads - a lush sonic palette with a hypnotic, heavily percussive drive, from tripped out downtempo and afrofunky cosmic sound (think Ibiza '85 to Rimini '95) to driving progressive house, trance, warped techno and warming tech house. Active in music since about 2008, Niklas has played in hiphop, psychedelic rock and free jazz projects and has been part of a number of projects centered around Salon des Amateurs in Düsseldorf. A wide, open minded range of practices that still feed into his music today - at Salon he forged his musical bond to producer Jan Schulte aka Wolf Müller. The pair released the acclaimed double LP "Instrumentalmusik von der Mitte der World" in 2018 via Growing Bin Records Niklas can be also heard as part of the long-standing synth pop band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge (new record out in March 2024 on Swiss label Lustpoderosa) and in a duo with veteran producer Sascha Funke, plus on a string of solo releases for imprints such as Bureau B, Permanent Vacation,Animals Dancing, Warning and Edizioni Mondo. DJings and live concerts have taken him all across Europe, to Israel and Palestine, China, Chile and Peru.
