Biografía

  • Based long-term in Utrecht, he’s best known in the Dutch scene for his DJ residencies at the late, much-loved club Trouw, and for his label Something Happening Somewhere (SoHaSo), which he started in 2013.
Nuno Dos Santos was a participant at the 2000 RBMA (Red Bull Music Academy) in Dublin. Born in Lisbon, he grew up in the Netherlands, and the electronic scene there inspired him to become a producer and DJ. Based long-term in Utrecht, he’s best known in the Dutch scene for his DJ residencies at the late, much-loved club Trouw (and its predecessor, Club 11), and for his label Something Happening Somewhere (SoHaSo), which he started in 2013. The label has a strong independent musical voice, with a strong hallmark on quality control, and releases only a few carefully handpicked records each year. Most recently, SoHaSo has put out music by Clone affiliate Cosmic Force. Dos Santos also collaborates with Cosmic Force under the alias Ultrastation, their first release comes out in December 2018 on Mary Black and their upcoming ep on Alienata’s Discos Atonicos early 2019. Whether it’s running his own label, producing music or DJing, you can feel that Nuno is utterly in love with what he does. This love translates into an almost obsessive curiosity for fresh music. As a DJ, Nuno’s style is deep and hypnotic, often drawing from percussive tracks, electro, lo-fi house and deep techno. As a producer, he’s worked with Erwin van Moll as the duo TJ Kong & Nuno Dos Santos, and their 2010 album, After Dark, My Sweet, was on Munich-based Compost Records. He’s also self-released a handful of 12”s and EPs, including 2018’s Wit Blad with Dutch vocalist Eefje de Visser.
