- ON OFF ON is a house and techno producer from Calgary, AB. Writing and performing live electronic music on hardware synthesizers and drum machines. Handcrafted beats, from the heart.With an emphasis on improvised, performance oriented, live music ON OFF ON is dedicated to deep, moody grooves and melodic analog synth lines. Electronic music made with a classic approach using modern analog and digital hardware. The name ON OFF ON is taken from binary code. The first computers performed basic calculations by using switches that were either OFF or ON. To this day binary still exists within every digital device on the planet. This code is universal and exists without race, religion, gender or geographic boundary. I've been producing electronic music **on and off** for approximately 22 years. Starting out with a 286 msdos based IBM clone with the very first 16bit sound blaster sound card, a mod tracker, and a very basic set of samples on floppy disk. What a long and amazing journey to arrive at production using modern boutique analog synthesizers, drum machines, and Ableton Live stacked with boundless sound design and processing ability. As of summer 2016, I decided to take my productions and live jams outside my studio and compile them into a 1-2 hour live set to be performed at venues around town. Designing the set was many months in the works. Inventing a means to take 128 patterns of music across 4 "grooveboxes" broken into 20-30 individual compositions and flow seamlessly from one song into the next all while changing patterns, tweaking parameters, and smacking buttons live on the fly. This labor of love has become my daily ritual. My stress relief. My church. Wrapping up my live shows for 2017 at Habitat Living Sound on November 16 for AEMCON 2017 was one of my proudest moments in music.
