Daniel Serbu, a.k.a. PANTANY, was born in 1989, in Ploiesti, Romania. Before even knowing what spinning records was, as a child Daniel grew up listening to rock music, exploring the psychedelic tunes of Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream,Al di Meola etc. After learning about Jean Michelle Jarre’s new innovative sound, he started developing a passion for electronic music. As new cassette-tapes,vinyl’s and CD’s went through his hands, he felt the unique buzz that house music had in particular. After some years of swinging through different kinds of minimal, techno and funky house, he found his true love somewhere around 126 beats per minute on a tech-house track. The idea of mixing beats together was also more and more appealing. The love for tech-house made him wish to launch himself on a mission to understand the true art of mixing. Pantany began throwing parties in his hometown Ploiesti south of Romania, just half hour away from capital Bucharest. The itchy sound that he had to offer found its place in suburnan Ploiesti amongst ravers that appreciated his sets. Regionally popular "Soviet Club” was the place where it all began. “Ice”, “Do Diez” and “Posh” followed with groovy electronic nights hard to forget (or even to remember for some). These were the few places where people came to enjoy underground house music, running away from the tired commercial sound. In 2009 various invitations to private parties came but Pantany was also beginning to play in big clubs across the country such as “President” and “Xen” in Kronstadt (Brasov), “Oscar Club” in Klausenburg (Cluj-Napoca) and top-list clubs in Bucharest “Kristal Glam“ ,“Studio Martin“, “Fabrica“ and „Daimon“. In 2009 he met Mindhacker in Bucharest, another young prodigy with a sense for the “four on the floor” feeling. They shared the same attachment for house music and started playing together. A big night for them was in Italy where they were invited as a duo to play in front Italian party people from Klang Club. But Italy only represented the first “out-of-the country” experience in means of DJ-ing. They were soon after invited to mix in Bulgaria in clubs such as “La Playa” and “Lifehouse”. For Pantany 2010 was a very busy year. He organized almost weekly a house music event in various clubs from Ploiesti where he definitely started forming his own public and fan base. He is also part of Cossington College, an independent crew of promising Romanian artists, based in the UK. Throughout his career as a DJ and producer he collaborated with artists such as Narcissa, Mircea Ivan, Dirty Culture, Xander, Razaar, Mahony, Mistor, Rhadow, Mr.John and Paul Octav but also shared the decks with foreign artists as Manu-L, Kidd Gerry, Sinful Dragons, Minimosa, Pepper, M-lito or Monoroom. His tracks appeared on releases from Escapism Musique, Milligrams and Sonora Records, enjoying feedback from artists as: Ali Kuru, Monoroom, Roberto Rodriguez, Paco Osuna, Hermanez, Nekes, Sasch BBC, Andrew Grant, Sossa, Francesco Gemeli, Willie Graff, Manu-L and others. Pantany-Perc de Africa (Minimosa rmx) was released on CD compilation at ZYX Music Records (Germany) beside artist such as: Patrik la Funk, Steve Angello, Sasch BBC, Fog & Arara, Veintengruber, Monoroom, Tim Green and many others. The next months of 2011 look very promising for Pantany with lots of gigs to come throughout Romania, Bulgaria, UK, Poland and Italy.
