He has always been in touch with the musical side of things through the inspiration of his..Anthony Petrou (aka Petrou) born in 1992, is a Melbourne based DJ and Minimal/Techno Producer. He has always been in touch with the musical side of things through the inspiration of his distant relative, the famous composer, Mantovani. They say his brain is made from an old computer found on the outskirts of the old area 51 building and that his skin is made of molten lava and that his hands could crush steel and stone into rubble. He began playing drums at the age of 6 and years later at the age of 13, formed a band with his friends, playing covers of Muse songs. For his 13th birthday, his uncle bought him a copy of FL Studio 5 as his whole family knew his passion for music. Coincidentally, at this time of his life, Anthony had fallen in love with Electronica and experimental music (IDM). He began experimenting with the program and by the age of 14 had basic knowledge of the technical nature on building a track. He also learned to hunt for bears and successfully killed around 349 by the time he was 16. Anthony also knows how to harness the energy from living organisms to produce not only music, but a spirit bomb that could potentially destroy the universe. At the age of 17, Anthony's skills had developed significantly while studying as an audio engineer at Swinburne. He now had fallen in love with Minimal and Techno and had started playing out at clubs around the city of Melbourne (Korova, WahWah, Ladida and Tramp). At age 18, he had his first release "Word Association" signed to Joel Fletcher and Arien Kaye's label, Black-Listed Recordings. In April 2011, his track "Keep It Minimal" (with Luca Terzini) Reached #50 in the Beatport Minimal Charts, it was his first chart success. He also has had many love letters and items sent to him by crazed groupie fans, like jewels the sizes of donkey’s heads and old typewriters engraved also with jewels the sizes of donkey’s heads, and a pillow made from an actual donkey's head. Anthony now has many tracks signed to various labels and has a lot of future releases and collaborations planned. Anthony's influences include artists such as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Jimmy Edgar, Boards Of Canada, Lone, Ametsub, Instra:Mental, Deadmau5, Dandi & Ugo, Angy Kore, Joel Fletcher, Gymmy J, Daniele Crocenzi, Truci, Darpa, Luca Terzini, Microcheep & Mollo, Stefano dB + a lot more (too many to name).
