Biografía

  • What do you get when you combine a master's degree in philosophy with a love of dance and electronic music production? Throw in a finalist position at the International Songwriting Competition, not to mention a fascination with the latest forms of nu-d..
Philosophy Of Sound is the post-punk-disco production team and live project started by Melbourne’s Martin K (originally hailing from Poland) who combines a master's degree in philosophy with a love of dance and electronic music production. Martin K has spent the last few years producing music videos, film soundtracks, podcasts or working in close collaboration with various electronic and dance artists. These have included production and remixes for Koshowko, Disco Stu, Mirror People, B(if)tek, Winduptoys and Valley Forge feat. Kamahl. Before starting Philosophy Of Sound, Martin K has been active in his previous project Koshowko, which has put out several critically and commercially acclaimed releases on Clan Analogue and Las Machinas. With this project he played several music festivals in Australia (St Kilda Festival, Renaissance Festival, Opoeia Festival or Electundra) and toured in Germany. Martin K also became the finalist of the The International Songwriting Competition in the Dance category. His music videos have also been screened around the globe in a selection of Film and Music Video Festivals. During the recording sessions for the upcoming Philosophy Of Sound (POS) tracks Martin collaborated with many talented musicians, including two most intriguing vocalists: Melbourne’s Magnolia and New York based Mereki Beach (Peacocks). You can also expect to hear some hot disco guitar ?licks and booty shaking bass – contributed by seasoned instrumentalists – Brian Westbrook and James Thompson. In addition - lyrics to one of the tracks titled ‘Ugliest 20’s’, were written by Tom Ellard (from the iconic act Severed Heads). When mixing of the recordings was on the way POS gained another producer – John Halloran (Tamaka) who has an international background as a DJ and ?producer of several projects including Freeform Human (Gi'iwa). John has also performed at such international events as Trimurti Festival - Russia, BE??? MOX - Russia, Heron Festival - Belguim, Cvatimech Festival - Slovakia, and a whole stack of clubs. Apart from contributing his own Tamaka remix of the upcoming single track ‘Freedom, what for?’ John is also the co-producer and co-mixing engineer of POS’s tracks. Philosophy of Sound has some exciting video clips for 2 singles: 'Freedom, what for?' and ‘It Is Like That’ soon to hit the air and the forthcoming 'Fragile Disco' EP is also awaiting release – all on the Discotexas imprint - straight from sunny Portugal. Featuring remixes from Ilya Santana (Eskimo Records) and Lazydisco (Disco Texas). In the meantime Philosophy Of Sound tracks can be found on ‘Circuit Breaker 2’ and ‘Robot Pop’ compilation albums. You can also hear one of their remixes on Koshowko’s ‘The Truth In Me’ EP released by Clan Analogue. With a lot more yet to come…
