- Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, this two-man DJ act made up of Guy Herman & Jon S have wowed audiences across the continent with their technical wizardry and infectious energy.The Pimp Squad first took to the decks in September of 2001 at Club Sublime’s first Boiling Point event. The showcase of talent comprised two DJs, 4 turntables and 2 DJ booths at either end of the dance floor. Since then their unique style has seen them billed alongside major international DJs Kaskade, Dieselboy, Tim Westwood, Richie Louisy & Jack Henney, Bruno Banner (Troublemen), Harrison Crump, DJ Yellow, Tom Novy, Brandon Block, Alex Kid, DJ Daze & Geoff Kemp. The Pimp Squad have paid their dues, earned their stripes and gained invaluable experience by playing countless gigs at nightclubs, events & radio slots throughout South Africa including All Good, Sutra, Natural Groove, Groove Bar, Reality, H2O, 5FM, YFM, Kaya FM, 206 (JHB & CT), Truth, Carfax, Sublime, Nexus, D.N.A (PTA), S.A Fashion week, Deluxe (CT), Chilli & Lime (CT), 96 degrees, Picassos, @115, Black Flys, Roxys, Tramps, Foundation, Sudada, Mother, Flyhouse, One77, Movement & Select to name a few. Having established themselves as a formidable force on the local DJ circuit, the next logical step was to delve into the world of production. Pimp Squad Recordings is the platform they have created to expose their unique underground sound to South Africa.
