He makes crazy spaced out disco-funk and wonky deep house grooves with a spiritual-post punky-ethno vibe all over it. He is the founder and head honcho of the highly acclaimed record label Tom Tom Disco. Which is considered to be the strongest force in the whole scandinavian nu-disco thang. Richard collected records for most part of his live, and started his DJ career by being that annoying teen who, at his friends house-parties, parked in front of the CD-shuffler to switch track every second minute. Demanding silence from everyone, just so they could hear his newly imported limited edition East European freeform jazz kraut post punk demo . From there he went straight on to become a hands-in-the-air party DJ around the local Indierock/pop bars and clubs, but that was only fulfilling as long as the beer glass was full. He then began experimenting by mashing up punk,postpunk and indie classics with italo and cosmic disco, and new musical ideas and concepts started to grow inside that party brain. With only basic knowledge of music editing he began making edits of cheesy and obscure italo-disco tracks from his vinyl collection. The edits where mainly extended intros and outs, and looped parts where the cowbell sounds were most prominent. Usually he added two extra layers of hi energy cowbell klonks - just to be safe. The sound ended up somewhere between postpunk and crazy italodisco. It was a total new sound for the clubbers in Stockholm, and the crowd went out of it! So Richard Rossa gathered up some friends and fired up his first club nights called ”Disco Moscow” - and that became the epicenter of that new crazy cowbell heavy italo-disco-punk-house sounds. The beat making gradually took more time and and he began releasing remixes on favorite labels Gomma Records, and went on to release originals on labels like Italian Pizzico Records. His music started to spread in the shady ”underground” disco world, and went on heavy rotation and was frequently played by artists like In Flagranti, Bottin, Rodion, Blackstrobe, Justin Robertson, The DFA crew, Aeroplane, Headman, Munk, etc. The next big hit in the Stockholm club scene was his club ”Tom Tom Disco” where Richard Rossa invited mind-liked artist from around the globe to come and play. Tom Tom Disco became another wild epicenter for that rough and dirty disco based dance music. Tom Tom Disco, as a club, became so popular that international artist even wrote that they were supposed to play there, when they in fact where heading to another spot in Stockholm. When the club stopped, the name, and spirit were used to create the label of today. Richard Rossa and his artists on Tom Tom Disco keeps on hitting the top charts as most sold, most charted and most played with every release they make. The Richard Rossa and the Tom Tom Disco sound has evolved into something of its own, it has influences (and artists) from all over the world and even if the fundament are made of groovy Nu- Disco/House you can hear traditions from almost every part of the world, dimension and genre. His music is played and playlisted by names such as Acid Pauli, Solomun, Maceo Plex, Richie Hawtin, Adam Port, Ali Kuru, Sabo to menion a few. Richard Rossa play regularly in Stockholm, preferably at underground & avant-garde techno events and festivals, but also at commercial spots spreading his love for dirty, groovy and unique mystic dance music. He keeps on playing at major festivals and some of the best clubs and around the world, From Mexico City, Lisbon, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Paris and Barcelona. In between gigs his working from his studio in Stockholm, releasing and exploring new funky dance music from all around.
