Along the way they’ve brought Claude von Stroke to the city before everyone became afraid of Detroit, flirted with underground starlets James Priestley and Henry Saiz, and allowed Paulo Mojo and Spiritcatcher to pound tiny capacity rooms to submission. And Rob Casson the DJ has been at the epicentre. It’s allowed for him to move elsewhere with his djing. A seasoned veteran of the festival circuit, Rockness, BFest and the almighty Creamfields have all resounded to the Casson brand of dance music. The Liverpool powerhouse has also asked Rob to set the tone at their Nation parties, Rob and sometime partner in crime Andy Currie warming up for Steve Angello at their Easter party, and grabbing a number of gigs on their national tours. The only other behemoth that can compete with Cream’s heritage, Ministry of Sound, booked Rob for their New Year’s Day party this year. He’s played for Liverpool institution Chibuku Shake Shake and Manchester battalion Sankeys, whilst the talent Rob has shared booths with is enough to make even the most seasoned of jocks bristle with envy. Jerome Sydenham, Raresh, Guy J, Marcell Dettman, James Talk, Phil Weeks, Robert Babicz, Christian Smith and Danny Howells make up a fraction of the roll-call. Rob even proved his versatility with a six month weekly residency at Liverpool’s vibrant Metropolitan Bar. Stylistically Rob is heavy on the melody and atmosphere. Drawing from the entire spectrum of house music, Rob is equally at ease building the impetus with rolling tech house grooves as he is dropping spine tingling prog tinged breakdowns. It’s a sound that has permeated his productions and remixes, which are now being prepped for release on Soulfire Records, backed up by Jet Project and Soundexile remixes. It’s the logical progression of a career that has developed a long way since that rainy night in October 2005. Like the Freeze clubnight he has become synonymous with, Rob continues to move forward and garner national acclaim with relative ease. As he bosses more and dancefloors across the nation, the Casson grip on your feet is only going to get stronger.
