- DJ, producer and writer currently lost in a haze of psychedelic rhythms and melodies somewhere in AsiaRocco Universal is the alter-ego of DJ, producer, and journalist, Patrizio Cavaliere. A committed collector and studio technician, Patrizio has been crate-digging and moving dance floors for over two decades. His cultured productions have been released on benchmark labels including Soul Clap, Leng, Kolour Recordings, and Midnight Riot. A profound love of sharing music combined with his diligent attention to the craft has seen him invited to perform at worldwide venues alongside some of the esoteric underground’s most revered artists. In the studio, his analogue production sound threads influences from Afro cosmic, Italo disco, Detroit house, Balearic disco, and more into evocative tracks that effortlessly skirt stylistic boundaries. His releases have generated widespread acclaim, attracting support and appearing in mixes from artists including Dimitri from Paris, Jacques Renault, Lexx, Sean Johnston, Daniele Baldelli, Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy, Glenn Underground, Honey Soundsystem, Bill Brewster, Felix Dickinson and more. A selector who prefers not to be defined or restricted by genres, his DJ sets effortlessly combine dynamic sounds from an ever-expanding catalogue of eclectic grooves. All kinds of music are considered and chosen carefully depending on where he plays, whether he's igniting late-night dancefloors, providing blissed-out sunset soundtracks, or anything in between. Playing internationally as well as being a regular at London's Turf series, he's enlivened crowds alongside the likes of Hunee, Giles Peterson, Floating Points, Ben UFO, Soul Clap, Romare, and Ross from Friends among many others. His musical insight has helped him gain a reputation as a trusted writer and journalist in recent years. In 2019 he set up the Cosmic Tiger blog, leading to invitations to regularly contribute articles and reviews to music publications including Juno Daily and Mixmag Asia.
