RUBIX aka James Hancock is a music producer and DJ from the UK with 4 top 10 records under his belt. James hails from Essex UK, but has travelled most of his life living in various cities and countries. He currently lives in Los Angeles. James has been involved with the music scene since the early 90’s as a DJ playing at variety of major clubs and raves up and down the country, Raindance, Fantazia, Cream & Dreamscape to name a few. The rave scene was only the beginning of his musical adventure. It was only a matter of time before James moved into production. Coming from the rave and jungle scene he started producing drum and bass in the late 90’s as one half of “The Outfit” a successful drum and bass production duo that has had over 30 releases including singles, EP’s and album tracks on most of the premier drum & and bass labels. V, Ram, True Playaz and Hospital Records to name a few. Their biggest achievement being when they reached the number three position in the dance charts. The late John Peel was an avid fan of ‘The Outfit’ supporting they’re music on BBC Radio 1. As a DJ, James has played at many of the top clubs throughout the UK including Fabric, The End, Ministry Of Sound, The EGG, Bar Rumba, as well as DJ’ing at Sona festival, Space Ibiza, Love Parade, Berlin, Snow bombing, Austria, Womb, Tokyo and guest spots in Las Vegas, San Fransico, Los Angeles, San Diego, NYC and Chicago. James has also guest DJ’ed on BBC 1Xtra, Ministry Of Sound, and Kiss FM. Rubix has gained support from many parts of the globe as well as National airplay from BBC radio, Kiss FM, internet radio from the likes of Ministry of Sound Radio and support from major publications like DJ Magazine, Mixmag and RWD. He has had DJ support from Roger Sanchez, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Derrick May, Idris Elba, Shadow Child, EDX, Calvin Harris, DJ Pierre, Friend Within, Golf Clap, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, DJ EZ to name but a few. James wanted to produce other genres of electronic music, using the elements of house, UKG, bass and beats, this is when he started producing under his new guise ‘Rubix’. To be free from constraints James setup ‘White Horse Records’, an outlet to produce quality house music. James is also co-signed to CR2 records. Through CR2 he has released 2 EP’s including the massive dance floor hit ‘The Club’ as well as exclusive compilation album tracks. Along with his own productions he is part of a side project entitled #DAH. #DAH is a collaboration between himself and his old production partner Dan Turner. Inspired by a mutual appreciation of classic 90’s US house and garage the two decided to create DAH as a means of paying tribute to the works of artists like Masters At Work, Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo and Armand Van Helden and labels such as Nervous Records and Strictly Rhythm, whilst also drawing on each other’s individual style and talents. DAH aims to emulate the vibe of the original classic recordings while updating the formula with a contemporary twist, appealing to both old and new heads alike. Currently co-signed to Cr2 Records they have released 2 EP’s and in 2016 released their debut album entitled ‘The Album’
