Although the deephouse traveller looks back to an amazing amount of pristine releases with the first official vinyl pressed back in 2007 one can still call him a young gun. Especially if you look around in the deeper fields of house music these days this gifted producer and DJ seems to be a great exception. And this isn't a disadvantage at all: With all the energy in his mind and hands Sascha Dive proves with every gig and every production that he easily plays on one level as many of his legends, if not even higher. Strongly influenced by the godfathers of deephouse like Moodyman, Chez Damier or Ron Trent and following the first waves of top notch German houselabels like Playhouse Sascha Dive progressed to a serious floor fighter since his first official appearance in 2007. With a musical taste reaching from his deephouse backround and soulful minimal sounds to kicking and mind blowing techno he played almost every leading club and festival over the last years. However Sascha Dive is not only taking his sound and vision to the world's finest floors, he still manages it to release more and more music. Dive released a vast amount of productions and remixes on high class labels such as Tsuba, Freebase, Deep Labs (Balance US), Raum...Musik or Stir15. And besides all the touring and producing he still runs his own "Deep Vibes" label with great success. "Deep Vibes" brought up some outstanding music by Sascha Dive and his his buddies and „house-mates“ like Brothers Vibe, Robert Dietz, Christian Burkhardt or Markus Fix (just to name a few) and most of it on vinyl! So it's no wonder that vinyl master Sven Väth signed Sascha to Cocoon Artists and Cocoon Recordings. Sascha Dive, a forward thinking producer and DJ who still waves the flag of the real vinyl sound and ever will. More young men like him and house music will live on forever! Check Sascha Dive's thoughts on his career so far, his greatest gigs and what the future would hopefully bring for him... --- Cocoon: Sascha, one thing that many people notice and wonder about is your age. You started quite early with your first DJ- and producer-steps and you hosted an internet-radio show at a very young age. Did you ever feel something like a gap or a difference to other housemusic artists? Dive: No, not really. Of course, most of my music scene friends, such as Dorian (Raum...Musik), Frank (Reboot), Robert Dietz or Christian Burkhardt are older than me but this never really was a big topic we talked about in the past. We meet and we chat about music, we show each other new and old tracks that we did. We go out for dinner, we have a good time, we are friends and musical allies and for this age doesn't really matter. And we influence each other. I picked up a lot of their electronic and minimal techno vibes and I think they also let influence themselves with my music. You can say that I try to share the shoulful housesound with them and I pick up some cool tech-house vibes in return. Cocoon: However it still is for us a major point - not many artists of your age can look back on this impressive list of releases and remixes. Which are the ones you feel most proud of? Dive: There are of course all my first releases on my own label "Deep Vibes". Well, it is more how people reacted to them and how much they did sell back then. This was out of any imagination when I started the label and this made me proud and showed me I did the right thing. Other than that my first album was a big step. All the releases on labels like Tsuba, Raum...Musik, Deep Labs or Stir15 mean a lot to me as I feel honoured to be part of these labels. You have to understand that these were some of my favourite labels when I started doing music and suddenly I was part of them. Last but not least Moodyman's remix for me is course like a dream has come true as he is one of the biggest legends of house music for me. Cocoon: Not only the Moodyman remix seems to be a dream has come true. To most young and new artists your whole career seems to be a dream. You do what you like most and you are priviliged to travel and see places others only dream of. Which gigs and venues left the biggest impression on you over the last years? Dive: Most people would believe I come up with exotic names and spots now, extravaganza, big raves, bizarre locations. However and like with my releases, I see mostly the clubs here that I admired before and that made me part of them afterwards. My gigs at Robert Johnson, one of my favourite clubs, and of course at the Cocoonclub in Frankfurt. I am happy that I played there as it is history now. My first gigs at Cocoon Ibiza / Amnesia are still shaking me. And as being a housemusic artists my US-tour was a milestone in my career, too. Cocoon: It looks like you scored all the goals you wanted to. Is there anything left on your wish list yet? What will the future look like what changes can you see for yourself? Dive: The main thing is to keep that level. I am not one of the guys who wants more and more and speeds too fast in the end. It is so hard to make and play music on this dedicated level where you don't want to make any concessions to stay in the biz. Being true to myself is important. And being true to the music and my medium of choice: Vinyl! I will definitely try to press music on vinyl as long as possible. I know this might change one day however I hope this day will not come too soon. Talking about my gigs: I definitely want to tour the US again and hope to get the chance to meet more of my legends one day. My last tour was such a big success that I feel it needs a sequel. Cocoon: Is there anything or anybody that influences you in your musical work besides your legends and the labels you follow? A special person would like to thank you? Dive: I am sort of a homie, I like my house, my family and all this is important for me. I do pay attention to what my girlfriend says. About many things in life and of course about music. However I am not really asking around, it is more of a feeling. I pay attention to vibes and feelings. I even notice when my dog leaves the studio when I am doing a new track. He is there most of the time when I am in studio and it happened a couple of times that he just left out of any food- or other reasons. This made me think and after I checked the sounds I had to agree: The Dog was right, they weren't good. You can say that all the tunes that left my studio so far are dog approved ;) Cocoon: Thanx Sascha, it is a pleasure to work with such a dedicated young man.
