Biografía

  • Frampton is well known for his notoriously gritty and rough instrumentals and raw, politically charged lyrics, especially around Brexit and Theresa May’s tenure as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
His stage name originates from his childhood nickname; Frampton had a speech impediment which caused him to speak slowly and with a drawl[citation needed]. Originally known as Slow Ty, he changed it to slowthai when he released his first single in 2016. The tattooed Northampton native’s sound sits somewhere between grime and rap, but possesses an unsettlingly creepy streak evocative of early Eminem or Marilyn Manson, snarling lyrics through clenched teeth about Theresa May, Richard Branson and Cash In The Attic to give his music an air of captivating paranoia. He’s released a statement-of-intent six track EP called “I WISH I KNEW” and came out with a new album in 2019 - 'Nothing Great about Britain'. It’s worth catching him live too – his taste for showmanship saw him enter the stage recently carried through the crowd in a coffin, before emerging in his boxer shorts. You say Beyonce at Coachella, I raise you slowthai channelling the undead.
