A DJ, producer, radio host, innovator, and founder of Dynamite Disco Club, Stalvart John has led the modern-day house and disco revolution within the country by balancing being an entertainer, an experimentalist, and a purveyor of fresher sounds from behind the desk and in the studio alike. Stalvart John finds his early roots as a trailblazer in Kerala, where he helped carve the early inklings of a music scene by taking various residencies, frequently spinning across the region’s nightlife, and presenting podcasts and shows through internet radio. He shifted his base to Bangalore in 2014 and soon built his identity off the back of his passion for his craft and bringing his stylistically-rich experience to inform an unwavering vision centred around the feel-good quality of house, disco and adjacent genres. An ambassador for the style within India, Stalvart John has since spread its glittering and joyous gospel across the country and, in 2023, been entrusted by Mixmag Asia to take it beyond its shores with a tour across South Asian regions like Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore. His straightforward musical storytelling through his DJ sets and productions has earned him a place on labels like Get Physical Music, Wind Horse Records, Hot Elephant Music, Springbok Records, Club Star Records, Believe in Disco, and Mind Fields Records. Meanwhile, his ear for what works on the dancefloor has entrusted him and his Dynamite Disco Club to soundtrack a dedicated dancefloor at the Cosmic Disco Bar of Magnetic Fields Festival 2019 for 3 consecutive nights and curate the Bacardi Rum Room at NH7 Weekender, the Cirque Du Social at Vh1 Supersonic, as well as showcases at the likes of SAUCE India, and Gin Explorer’s Club. Becoming a dance music frontrunner synonymous with funk-infused performances, captivating edits, invigorating remixes, and soul-stirringly groovy compositions, Stalvart John is now on a gradual mission to expand the existing space for the music he believes in – most notably through his Dynamite Disco Club. Starting as his radio show on boxout.fm, then expanding into a regular club night, eventually launching a label arm and also offering a genre-agnostic outreach program, DDC is where Stalvart empowers the next generation of talent, provides a 360° ecosystem to launch their musical practice, and drives a fast-widening community of dance music listeners in India. With its members regularly topping the charts on platforms on Traxsource, starting their own club nights across the country, and becoming recognizable forces in their own right, Dynamite Disco Club is a testament to Stalvart John’s boundary-pushing vision, unwavering commitment, and his insatiable desire to spread the infectious joy of disco far and wide.
