STEFFEN ALTMEYER Grown up in a small town 70 kilometres north-west of Cologne close to the dutch border, Steffen Altmeyer moved to Marburg/Hessen in 1997 to study law. Putting his hands on instruments in the early 90's, Altmeyer finally started to dj in 1995. Beeing heavily influenced by all imaginable kinds of music, Altmeyer tried to make a difference right from the beginning by mixing up different styles of electronic music like house, techno and experimental stuff, combined with a dash of disco or soul and even rap-music from time to time. After countless gigs all over Germany including clubs like Cocoonclub, Monza, U60311 or Tanzhaus West, all based in Frankfurt, Zentrum/Erfurt, Zoom/Nürnberg amongst others during the years of study, Steffen Altmeyer finally graduated from university in 2005 and instantly started to work at the Gießen-based "Downtown Recordstore". After a short while he changed to the well-known record store "Delirium Records"/Frankfurt, which he ultimately took over in early 2006 and ran until it's closing in 2008. Meanwhile, in early 2007, his first Mix-CD called „Minimal-Techno Volume 2“ was released. Like his dj-sets this mix covers a wide musical range, reaching from deep techhouse to techno, always aiming directly to the dancefloor. True to his word, that two turntables and a mixer are enough to have a good time, Altmeyer tries to concentrate on the flow rather, than on launching one rocket after the other. In the middle of 2008 after spending a couple of month as booking agent at the cocoon booking-agency Altmeyer moved from Frankfurt to Berlin to continue his employment to become a lawyer. In summer 2010 he hit the road to play a couple of gigs in Lithuania including the well-known "Supynes Open Air". Currently Altmeyer is performing regularly in different clubs in Berlin like Golden Gate, Farbfernseher and Chez Jacki. "Entertainment. That's what music is about. People simply should have a good time", Altmeyer states when he is asked what in his eyes is the "essence of deejaying" respectively of music in general. Anybody who has ever seen him play would approve that.
