Biografía

  • DJ/Producer from Seattle, WA.
Michito Iwata (Yujin / Summit Dub) first emerged onto Seattle’s then up-and-coming electronic music scene in the early 2000s. Playing underground loft parties and quintessential club nights quickly became his niche. Growing up in Japan during the 80s led Iwata to his earliest musical influences. The most notable being folk music from the deep stretches of Japanese highlands, retro Japanese pop, and new-age artists such as Tatsuro Yamashita and Kitaro. As a long-time fixture of the Seattle underground, DJing and event production continue to be his forte. But being a student of genre spans decades and requires dedication. He’s carefully curated a highly selective record collection with sounds spanning from quality house, techno and beyond, to both being strung together in a high-art fashion. In 2018, Iwata marked a new chapter in his career with the release of his first 12" collaboration project with Aaron Daniel, under the moniker Lexeme, on the Berlin/NJ-based imprint WEX Records. Keeping the momentum going, he was featured on the VA AHAAD in 2020 under his new moniker, Summit Dub. Most recently, Iwata released his debut single, "Mithra AM", on Seattle's Rhizome US, featuring remixes by Romanian producers Cosmjn & Bryz. Iwata’s had the pleasure of supporting some of his favorite talents including Andrey Pushkarev, Dan Bell, Afriqua, Rick Wade, iO Mulen, Janeret, Marc Schneider, Chez Damier, Richie Hawtin, 100hz, Ame, Patrice Scott, Jay Tripwire, Anderson, Cosmjn, Maksim and many more. In the spirit of moving forward while also advocating for his home base music scene, “Isotonic Projection”, is his latest single release with Seattle/Singapore based label, Restless Planet.
