Modular synths, techno, breaks & ambient.Berlin-based DJ Taro is a multi-talented producer, live performer, and sound artist known for his unique sound that blends breaks, rolling beats, pulsating melodies and ambient textures. Born and raised in Colorado, Taro has lived in Beijing and Portland before finally settling in Berlin in 2019. With the release of his white label singles "Lurk" and "The Suffler," Taro established himself in the underground music scene. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Taro honed his skills and wrote new music, while also expanding his reach into the visual arts realm with an immersive sound art exhibition at Meow Wolf. In 2022, he released the exciting Tendril EP, a collection of genre-defying broken beat tracks with an ambient flair. Taro's music has been praised for its highly melodic nature and its ability to traverse the boundary between leftfield techno, ambient, and broken beat. He recently caught the attention of the UK label Baroque Sunburst, which released his dreamy IDM zipper, "Gas Burn" along with an off-kilter UK funky remix from the highly acclaimed producer Flørist. Alongside his solo work, Taro is also a part of the collective Glow Berlin, which hosts (i)llegal raves and events with a focus on genre-bending musicianship from the underground.
