Biografía

  • Now in his late 20's, Tayo is proving himself to be one of the brightest DJ talents around. Alongside other members of the breakbeat elite he is more than holding his own and establishing a reputation for himself all over the country.
After paying his warm up dues as a drum and bass dj alongside Fabio, Grooverider, and Peshay, Tayo set up Friction with fellow members of the breakbeat elite, Adam Freeland and Rennie Pilgrem and has watched the club and it’s residents become a focal point for the UK breakbeat sound. For the last year Tayo has been resident at home, and Fabric. With Friction now at the End he is consistently playing at London’s three biggest and best clubs mixing up breaks, electro, and 4/4 grooves alongside the likes of Carl Cox, Layo & Bushwacka, Hybrid, Lee Burridge and Craig Richards. He has also been made the new Bugged Out! resident at their newest club as well as Big Beat Boutique resident in Dublin, and in their new Brighton home. Tayo also co runs and dj’s at the ‘Rooty’ monthly parties with Basement Jaxx. This year alone he has rocked Homelands in Ireland and England, Glastonbury, and has made his presence felt and appreciated in the US (Big Beat Boutique tour, and in the courtyard of Space, Miami for three hours), Holland, Hong Kong, Sydney, and Ibiza (on the terrace alongside Basement Jaxx.) His skills behind the decks have led to profiles in i- D, Muzik Time Out, Mixmag, and Seven, and led Jockey Slut to describe him (along with Rennie and Adam) as "becoming as influential to the next generation as Fabio and Grooverider were to aspiring junglists". DJ magazine have tipped him in their’ next big five’ (alongside Yousef, Danny Howells, Fergie and Ashley Casselle) , ‘a cheeky chappy with bags of media savvy – should do well.’ He has also released a mix album on Dust II Dust records entitled ‘Planet Of The Breaks’, and will be releasing his new ‘High Tech Funk’ very soon. This year has seen the rise of Tayo’s own Mob label with releases from Rennie Pilgrem, Stanton Warriors, and DJ Technique. Future releases on the label are coming from Ashley Beedle, D Kline, and Tayo himself. In the studio Tayo has recorded and remixed for Carl Cox’s Ultimate Breaks label, and Rennie Pilgrem’s TCR label as World Of Crime, with singles of the month in Muzik and DJ, and a ‘Leaders Of The New school’ piece in Mixmag. Future collaborations with the Stanton Warriors, and Ashley Beedle will appear next year. Tayo is currently a weekly resident on the Ministry of Sound Radio Show and fortnightly resident on Groovetech internet Radio.
