- Schnauss’ music fuses electronics and the shoegazing textures of Ride, My Bloody Valentine and the Cocteau Twins.Ulrich Schnauss is a German electronic producer with two critically acclaimed releases under his belt. The mini-album ‘Far Away Trains Passing By’ [2001] and the full length ‘A Strangely Isolated Place’ [2003] were both critical and commercial successes as far away from Germany as North America and Japan. Schnauss’ music fuses electronics and the shoegazing textures of Ride, My Bloody Valentine and the Cocteau Twins. "When you've worked with computers and keyboards for a number of years, they become not so fascinating of themselves anymore,” says Schnauss. “I gained in confidence after people began to discover ‘Far Away Trains Passing By’, and it hasn't really stopped since then. This time I decided not to compromise on what I wanted to do, with what I thought people might want me to do." The success of the albums led to Schnauss branching out into collaborations and remixes with Depeche Mode, Mojave 3, I'm Not A Gun, Justin Robertson, The Zephyrs, and more. His third album, Goodbye, was completed in early 2007. "I see these three albums as moving closer to something I wanted to do right from the beginning but didn't quite manage," he says.
