Biografía

  • Midwest expatriate rebuilding from the ground up. Material on Ill Bomb Records, 611, Re-Konstrukt, and Dystopian Rhythm . More to come.
Virulent is the brainchild of Kevin Farabaugh, a former Northwest Indiana native who grew up on a steady diet of Chicago-based industrial, techno and house. Finding the local techno scene lacking during his college days at Purdue, he often made the 5-hour drive to Detroit where he quickly became a staple of club events at such venues as The Works. Working under the Virulent alias with emerging music software technology, he quickly began to forge his own sound. Having released several tracks and remixes on vinyl from 2003-2005 on labels such as Beretta, Azure, Chromagnon and Seismic before taking a break from the scene to let "mnml" run it's course, Kevin has returned in 2013 with renewed vigor and a sound that straddles the line between techno, industrial and tech-house. Operating from the new home base of Raleigh, NC, he's already released original material on labels like Ill Bomb, Dystopian Rhythm with remixes under his belt for Re-Konstrukt, Torque and Slap Jaxx. 2014 promises to be even a bigger year, so stay tuned.
