Biografía

  • PRODUCTION DUO VOICES OF BLACK CONSISTS OF MEMBERS JULES BORN AND BABA ALI. BOTH JUST 21 & 22 YEARS OLD THE YARCHERS THEMSELVES INVITE LISTENERS ON A COSMIC JOURNEY THAT BENDS CONVENTIONAL STANDARDS OF SOUND. NOTORIOUS FOR SIMPLE VOCALS LAYERED OVER IN..
Babatunde Teemituoyo Doherty & Julian Lafayette-Terry Randolph, better known as Voices of Black, first recorded hip hop mixtapes on Radioshack cassette decks after long high school days in Ramsey, New Jersey. A few years fermenting in Soho and Providence, Rhode Island with label-mate Nico Jaar resulted in two genre-spanning, full length efforts, Tomorrow's Today and Plastic Dolls. The haunted house tracks of the latter record, recently released on the Wolf+Lamb imprint, represent the duo's escape from New York's fraudulent scene of wannabe models and would-be sugar daddy's towards a more soulful future. The group continues to work towards bending boundaries and creating an innovative style of music that hints funk, house, and hip hop thus making them outliers in the electronic dance world. For more cosmic funk and warm house tracks, look out for future releases on wolf and lamb, as well as more traditional song material from the youthful yet wise duo. At just 21 and 22 years old Voices of Black will be one of the more interesting artists to watch develop and impact electronic music.
