Biografía

  • WATA is an electroacoustic duo from Santiago de Chile formed in 2011 by vocalist /composer Washington Miranda (Perlon, Cosmo) and producer LATA (LibrecommeLair, Latino Resiste), known for his dub/electrolatino releases on european labels.
Both musicians are considered to be among the original characters of the electronic music scene in Santiago de Chile, being now active in it for over 25 years. Both together and separately, Washington and LATA have done many collaborations with artists from all over the world, live and in the studio, and are responsible for some classic underground pieces such as Tu Actitud and Baila Sin Petit with Ricardo Villalobos, Señora, Tiene Té? with Jorge Gonzalez and Luciano, La Payaya with Pier Bucci or Operator 99 with Argenis Brito, among many others. WATA has performed live on big festivals such as Quinto Sol´s editions in Berlin, Curitiba and Santiago or Lollapalooza Chile and many other cool clubs in Europe and Southamerica. WATA´s music knows no boundaries. Multi-instrumentalists and enthusiast collaborators, both members bring decades of musical influences to their sound, ranging from minimal techno stompers to heart-felt soul ballads, from latin surf rock pioneers Los Rockets to futuristic maestro AtomTM. Washington´s deep spanish poetry flows freely over LATA´s refined beats on an improvisational journey. In 2020, WATA released their first album called "Grandes Éxitos".
