Biografía

  • A young Xivix (David Yaconi) cut his teeth by first stepping foot into South Florida House Club “Visions” at age 11.
Over the next few years Xivix and his friends would take turns stealing their parents’ cars in the middle of the night to make their way down I-95 to the clubs. Eventually, catching wind of Ft. Lauderdale club “The Edge” – a life-changing space that brought together all the weirdos, goths, gangsters, queers and deviants of South Florida under the direction of Bruce Wilcox (RIP). Taking acid and dancing from 8 am till noon became a weekly ritual for Xivix and friends and this secret world became a very special place in the memories of those that participated during those years. Years later, while attending college in Orlando in 1999, he began buying wax and delving into DJing. With the help of some locals in the experimental scene, he started an IDM weekly in downtown Orlando called "Virus", which later relocated and was renamed "Push". The event’s focus was on visual and audio performances, and hosted artists such as Machinedrum, Jan Jelinek, Otto Von Schirach, Push Button Objects, Dino Felipe and many more. After moving to Louisiana in 2007, Xivix’s involvement in nightlife became sparse, until 2015 when he worked with local DJ/producer Raspy (Max Binet) to put together INSTAL. The idea behind it was to provide an immersive microclub experience showcasing raw, creative dance culture, and it helped lay the foundation for Xivix’s present-day focuses: FUNCTION and SYSTEM. FUNCTION is a party series that aims to re-capture the spirit of late 80's early 90s club culture into the modern day. A crew effort with young local DJs Asics and Quickweave, it gained traction to become a sought-after party destination for New Orlean's freaks. SYSTEM, a more recent effort, is a weekly workshop aimed to cultivate local underground talent, as well as bring together local DJs and producers in a neutral collaborative space. For Xivix and others, this would be the space to road-test tracks, get feedback, and even learn some new things with access to a large club sound system (hence the name). With this melding of music production, parties, and involvement in the scene, Xivix is enjoying a renewed life in the underground. This time, the driving force would be creating tracks for DJs to play at creative spaces throughout the world.
