For Ears & Eyes - For Bodies & Minds. - OCT 25th • X-MIX #1 with. John Acquaviva - Hrdvsion Derek Plaslaiko Marius Reisser - Video Art & Installation: Pussykrew - HISTORY In November 1989, the eyes of the world were on Berlin. The wall separating East and West had fallen. It paved the way for German reunification the following year. It also spawned one of the most vibrant club scenes on the planet, one that continues to this day. At that time !K7 wanted to created visuals to go with the techno soundtrack the German capital was dancing to. The basic idea was that the music was coming out of computers, so the visuals should come out of computers as well. The end result was X-MIX, DJ mixes with an accompanying stream of computer animated video. X-MIX was a huge success. Videos appeared everywhere from MTV to illegal warehouse raves. It became one of the few outlets for the emerging digital art scene. By placing a DJ at the centre of each mix, X-MIX inadvertently became the first mix CD series. Over the course of ten installments, it became an integral part of techno’s history. The list of people who contributed to the series—Dave Angel, Dave Clarke, Hardfloor, DJ Hell, John Acquaviva, Ken Ishii, Kevin Saunderson, Mr C, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin and Paul Van Dyk—reads like a Who’s Who of techno. X-MIX THE REWIND It was always about innovation, and X-MIX 2.0 is a creative take on the original ten long-form videos & DJ mixes produced on !K7 records. Concept is to give the videos as source material to innovative visual artists in order to use it as an inspiration for the visual element of the party. It’s all about bringing the old X-MIX material up to date, transforming it into how advanced warehouse parties look nowadays. The end result is two Audio/Visual warehouse parties in Berlin at Stattbad Wedding in collaboration with Chez Jacki, Berlin based event makers, best known as a think factory gathering visual art, dance music, light & sound innovations in inner city warehouses since 2005. The premiere event on Oct 25th features John Acquaviva, Derek Plaslaiko, Hrdvsion and Marius Reisser, with a the line-up of second - November 22 - includes Dave Clarke, Objekt, a guest from Ostgut Ton - soon revealed - and Marius Reisser. - John Acquaviva & Dave Clarke - Cornerstones of electronic music are returning to X-MIX for the premiere events. Alongside these internationally renowned DJs, X-MIX curates a stellar line-up featuring the next generation of prominent artists. Pussycrew features hours of X-MIX archive footage has now been digitally regenerated and is remixed live within an immersive video/light installation. What we’re hoping to achieve is a party where we weld together 20 years of club culture. Having people from back in the day up to new DJs. Showing how relevant and strong this music has been over 20 years. Back to the future, in other words.
