Subkultur / Berlin 80 is an video-art event presented and created by !K7 Records. In 1985, Horst Weidenmueller (Label owner) !K7 records started filming live concerts throughout West-Berlin. These videos were created to document the unique and independent music culture that was cultivated in Berlin in the time before the wall collapsed in 1988. The videos taken from these events have been kept in the !K7 vault for over 27 years. After the long digitization and re-mastering process, we have been preparing these videos for public release. Once we saw the completed videos, we decided the best way to present these scenes was in a non-traditional manner. The show will be comprised of VJ Mox (from Ninja Tunes, London, UK) VJing a live set of these unreleased and previously unseen videos, live. We created a large 4 screen environment which will fully immerse the viewer in our Subkultur / Berlin 80 vision.
On top of that, we will have DJs from back in the 80s playing before and after the video live show : Maria from the Risiko Bar and Mark Reeder from Shark Vegas
